Corcyrae insulae oppid. Plin. l. 4. c. 12. Ptolemaeo Cassiopolis dicitur. Hodie Cassopo. Hîc celebre olim Fanum fuit Iovus Cassiani, cuius varia numismata meminêre. Hodie urbs in runis iacet; Aedes saltem ibi sacra Panagiae, i. e. S. Virgini, undique anathematis nautarum, aliorumque qui e maris periculis emerserunt, referta. Sed et imago ibidem eiusdem B. Virginis, cui lamellam cupream applicantes viatores, inde suorum necem, aut vitam, augurantur.
